The Chicago Pass is a sightseeing pass that gives you free VIP admission to Chicago’s main attractions. This city pass offers great value for money and has the added benefit of VIP entrance to most attractions, which means you never have to wait in line for tickets.
What is Included in the Pass?
The Chicago city pass allows you to enter five tourist attractions free of charge. Pass holders get a VIP admission to the world-famous Shedd Aquarium, where they can enter all the parts of the aquarium and see its special exhibits. The Field Museum lets Chicago Pass owners visit all its permanent exhibits for free, including the Ancient Egypt and the Ancient Americas. The pass also lets you explore Skydeck Chicago, the city’s highest observatory.
Everyone can visit the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum and the Skydeck. You can then choose either the Adler Planetarium or the Art Institute of Chicago as your fourth attraction, and the Museum of Science and Industry or the John Hancock Observatory as your fifth site to visit.
How to Use the Pass
The pass can be bought online in advance or it can be bought in Chicago. It is available as an electronic ticket or a booklet that can be delivered to your home address. If you choose an e-ticket, you can change it to a booklet as soon as you visit the first attraction in Chicago.
The booklet contains information about the attractions and their opening hours and includes a map with travel tips for first-time visitors. Its validity starts from the first time it is used and the pass is valid for nine consecutive days. Visitors must show the booklet at the entrance to each attraction. The attendant will scan or tear out a ticket. You should carry the whole booklet with you as individual tickets may not be valid for entrance.
You only need to visit two attractions on the list to save money, but the more sites you visit the more you can save. If you visit all the five attractions, the pass saves you 52% of the total admission fees.
